The Blue Economy – 10 Years, 100 Innovations, 100 Million Jobs
The future of the economy is blue – just as our planet
The current financial crisis highlights the need for parameters, assuring an economical development. These parameters should be based on fundamental innovations, generate new, desperately needed positions of employment and at the same time satisfy the needs of the earth and its inhabitants. This „blue“ attempt is not only feasible, but has already started to take root. After four years of research we possess a portfolio of 100 innovations including entire system models, which have the potential to create 100 Million positions of employment within the next couple of years.

The first couple of innovations base on the cascading of nutrients and energy, just as ecosystems do. This signifies that everything contributes as much as possible and everything remains in a stream of nutrients. Instead of artificially created scarcity and bottlenecks, the new economical parameters feature opulence – on nourishment, energy, employment and turnover.
Nothing instead of something – how can that work?
Our society is strongly accustomed to the consumption of products that produce a high amount of waste and cause pollution. These products and their manufacturing method waste scarce resources and force countless people to a life in an environment, burdened with poisonous residues. Even the development of M1H1, more commonly known as swine flu, can be based on such a scenario. Permanent solutions – meaning really sustainable solutions – require a fundamental change of our awareness. We need breakthrough innovations, such as the second group of innovations, which demonstrate that “something” - models of unsustainable production and consumption – is exchanged by “nothing”.
100 innovations for the economy of the future
Over one hundred of such innovations already exist. These are introduced by “The Blue Economy”, a report to the Club of Rome. Each reference has already been implemented in different parts of the world. The successful implementations are only a few examples of what is possible. This realization gives us a positive perspective of the future. The new “blue” economical parameters work with local resources in order to generate a turnover with which basic human needs can be satisfied. They represent a platform, that links creative entrepreneurship with breakthrough innovations, in order to promote life, secure nutrition and housing for all and obtain the earth and its natural systems.
